a lifetime burning

Black Cap

Eventually we had a few bits of of brightness this afternoon - most of the earlier part of the day was dull and grey.  It would not have been so bad, but for the weather forecasters who had previously said that Monday would be a lovely day and that the temperatures would start to climb.  There's something particularly irritating about promises of good weather that then get downgraded at the last minute.

Still, on the bright side, it's great to see the black caps singing again - one of the beautiful sounds of Spring.  The starlings that made their nest under one of the roof tiles last year seem to have come back again this year, we've seen them collecting nesting materials;  some of which are the remnants of poor Colin (the pigeon who we thought was probably killed by a sparrow hawk on 14th).  It's good to see his feathers being put to a productive use.
