The Group

Today we walked from Bomerano at 640m on terraces high up above the sea and down in to the deep Furore ravine, a micro climate with many, many wildflowers.  We crossed the stream in the bottom of the ravine and climbed back up the steep side across the valley and continued to contour on high terraces, passing citrus groves, vines, olive trees then descending hundreds of stone steps to Bar Rosa at 250m. Guide Paolo had an understanding at the cafe so we were allowed to eat our packed lunch if we bought a cuppa and maybe cake or ice cream.  The local cake delicacy created by the nuns at the Santa Rosa convent, is the Santa Rosa cake, a yummy confection of filo pastry filled with custard and topped with icing and cherries. Sadly for the others, I secured the last two for Tony and me!

After lunch we walked for a further hour, down more stone steps and along narrow roads until eventually we reached our destination of Amalfi at sea level.  Here we had a couple of hours free time so Margaret and Brian and us two sought out much needed cuppas at a cafe in the central piazza.

My blip was taken as we emerged from the ravine, of our walking group, all good folks.
