Saltaire in the sun

It’s much colder today but once this morning’s clouds had melted away we had the most glorious sunshine with an almost Tuscan blue sky. Saltaire is absolutely fascinating and a great place to wander about without a schedule. The mill is an awesome building, full of Hockney works and two bookshops (temptation won…) We did our own guided tour of the village and really engaged with the story of those streets and their remarkable creator, Titus Salt.
We’re both more tired than yesterday day so after a full day exploring we drove up to the top of Penistone Hill with books and knitting and proceeded to do none of those things. Instead we chatted for a good hour and watched the sun set from the warmth of the car. The wind was too bitter to stay outside for long. Meanwhile the landscape changed completely as the evening light illuminated parts of the moors we hadn’t seen before. A lovely restful end to the day.

Today’s extras are in and around the mill and model village.

Thanks so much for your kind comments and stars for yesterday’s Brontë waterfalls blip.
