The Oscar Elton Sette

Blue and white. (and yellow)  Haven’t posted a NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in awhile…I always like to see what’s new here at Lake Union Drydock on a beautiful day.   Haven’t seen this one… The Oscar Elton Sette Think it’s spent time in dry dock first.  it’s current homeport is Honolulu Hawaii.  Originally built for the Navy in 1988, (in Mississippi) this 224 ft vessel was transferred to NOAA as a research vessel in 1992 and was commissioned in 2003 for its present work…Because it's acoustically quiet it’s particularly suited to conduct fisheries research and marine mammal surveys.  It’s named for the first director of Honolulu laboratory of fish and wildlife (now NOAA) from 1949-1955.    Seen over the old float of Lake Washington Rowing club with contrasting little skinny white  boats.   There’s a person working on top of the middle tower thingy.  I just noticed the commanding officer’s name is Fiona!
