Early start today. M’boy was due in school early for his residential and judging by the size of the other bags turning up with the children, I was one of the few parents who actually adhered to the kit list.

Oh well, at least he won’t be short of dry undercrackers after all that ghyll scrambling and whatnot…

Another straightforward day at work, complete with a grown up meeting of Chief Execs and Technical Underwriters and me in the middle chairing it all. It was another of those meetings where I hear myself spouting some corporate guff and immediately wonder where it came from, and what did happen to that boy who was going to make a living from doing something creative*?

Took a walk at lunch to soak up the sun and was instilled with a little civic pride when I saw these people re-painting the Kendal Town logo. Look forward to seeing the finished article which you can see as you hit the town centre from the south side.

With m’boy away on his latest adventure, the best part of the day was a Daddy/Daughters evening designed and built by The Youngest to include a trip to McDonalds (bleurgh), a raid on the easter eggs and a viewing of the film version of Matilda The Musical. We all really enjoyed it, but great though it was, I am still rather partial to the Danny De Vito version and Pam Ferris’ brilliant version of The Trunchbull. It was the film that also introduced me to this belter.

A lovely day was capped off by a crushing West Ham win in Europe and we’re through to our second successive European semi-final.

The day isn’t going to get any better, so definitely time to call it a night!

*He was crushed under the weight of his own expectations of himself and ironically his fear of not living up to his own expectations. Still, he’s got three prospective organ donors children now, so it’s not all bad.
