The longer-than-usual journey north

Set off early by train this morning to see my Mum and Dad. Upon boarding the train, we were told it would terminate in York (I was heading for Edinburgh) due to a fatality as someone had been hit by a train near Darlington. Ended up spending an hour walking around York- not much has changed since we lived there 21 years ago. Eventually had to stand on a packed train from York to Edinburgh. Always nice to see this statue of Mrs C’s great great great uncle when I arrive in the only train station in the world named after a novel…
