A Dull Day in Houton

Inevitably we paid today for the recent run of scintillating weather.  The wind picked up from the north-east as the day progressed.  However, undaunted, we bounced back first thing after last night’s birthday cake, heavily smoked cheese and Arran whisky fest, through in Stromness.  Big Bob doesn’t know when to stop.  I feel we may have to tell him midweek.  Just as we arrived back at HQ the Northern Lights were turned on.  CMC was alerted by Gordon, through in Rackwick, an unlikely Aurora viewing location.  But there they were – purple and low in the sky.

Today I tidied the Bothy and the Shack.  I somehow managed to break CMC’s favourite plate with the tea pot.

More Stromness celebrations tonight.
