An ordinary life....

Say cheese!

Photobombed by Lola!

Spent the latter part of the morning preparing the deluxe Mac n cheese (will attach recipe if I can. It really is amazing!) and putting the finishing touches to the banoffee pie I started making last night (i.e. adding the bananas, cream and crushed crunchie topping)

Agnes and Adrian arrived at 3pm and the sun was still shining so armed with coffee and cake we headed to the Gin Palace.

We had a very enjoyable time catching up with them and before we knew it. It was wine o’clock (well for them, I had a G&T :-)

Came inside at 6.30pm and got dinner in the oven, threw together a salad and got the homemade garlic bread prepped.

As dinner cooked we surprised them by telling them we’ve got our holiday house in Northumberland booked for the end of the year (it’s become a bit of a tradition that the four of us go away together late November/ early December)  Showed them the house online and they love it!  Hard not to, it really is fantastic.  They were even happier when we told them Lola will be coming too.  They’ve had a dog all their married life till their last dog died before lockdown.  They really miss having a dog (not getting another till they both retire) and adore Lola (and she them) so it’s a win / win.

Dinner was a success (the banoffee pie is so sweet.  I had a tiny sliver and only managed about two spoonfuls. The rest managed large slices :-)

More blethers after dinner than Agnes and Adrian headed off to bed at midnight.  We weren’t far behind them but had a tiny bit of drama before lights out, as getting ready for bed I discovered an embedded tick happily feasting on my thigh.  Ugh!!!  It definitely wasn’t there this morning.

D was dispatched back downstairs to get the tick remover and given the unenviable task of removing it.  He did a fine job but bloody hell it wasn’t pleasant! Ouch!!

He checked he’d got it all out in one piece (he had) while I washed the area with soap and water and slathered on sudocrem (other antiseptic creams are available :-)

Will keep an eye on it and maybe phone the Doc for advice on Monday.  After having a great (hear the sarcasm) start to the year with endemetris, sepsis and covid, I really don’t want to add Lyme disease to the list!!
