The boy, now a man, is away at university. Left on his windowsill are a few of his childhood treasures - a dinosaur 'fossil', the carved wooden car his father bought for him on his travels, and a birthday gift from his friend Donovan ...a cactus that has defied the odds ( in this home, anyway ) by staying alive since Roan's ninth birthday.
