Gannet Heaven......

We had a few false starts today. We had sea mist again this morning which wouldn't have been good today. When we reached the access road to Bempton Cliffs we had to turn back as they were resurfacing the road! Luckily they were due to finish by lunchtime so we set off for Flamborough Head.

The mist had cleared by this point and we had sunny skies. Phew! We had a wander around and watched the seals basking on the shore.

Back to Bempton Cliffs after lunch. All i can say is WOW! If you would like to see gannets close up without disturbing them then this is the place to go. They were not concerned by our presence at all. They were more intent on securing their nesting spots and gathering nesting material. It's a place that's been on my wildlife bucket list for a while.

I took hundreds of photos and had a good practice at panning. Gannets soar beautifully and not too fast so I may have got some blurry images but I never lost sight of a single bird. I've added a couple of extras as their were other seabirds nesting too, but it was the gannets stole the show.

I've a few more on Flickr if you feel inclined to have a look.
