After a 6 hour train journey I am back in the southern tip of Germany. I thought I go for a quick 10 min walk before the rain starts but it turned out to be several hours of good weather and dramatic skies. I ended up at the Badenweiler castle at the edge of the Black Forest where people tend to gather to watch the sunset over the Rhine valley and across the french hills.
First mentioned in 1122, the history goes back even further with there is some documentation evidence of a settlement in the 6th and 7th century and before that of a Roman fortification.
