Spiralling

Apparently there were 14 different nationalities in our hostal last night. I’m really enjoying meeting new people and finding out about their lives. Much quieter and better night’s sleep, that said we’re still in a private room (even have the luxury of our own bathroom) which I’m sure makes a massive difference!
Off to the Cathedral today to get our Credencial (Camino passport) stamped. We also visited Livraria Lello, reputed to be the most beautiful bookshop in the world and allegedly the inspiration for Hogwarts as J K Rowling lived in Porto in the 1990s. It’s now so popular, because of the connection, that we had to book and still queue. It is a beautiful bookshop but packed with people taking selfies instead of looking at the books! We’re still detoxing digitally (no 4G and WiFi only in the evenings) the most difficult thing has been adjusting to not using Apple Maps all the time. I hadn’t appreciated how reliant I’ve become on it. It did mean traipsing around Porto for an hour in the midday heat looking for a restaurant that had been recommended! The good weather is making it feel like a holiday but the hard work starts tomorrow.
