Practice Makes Perfect

'Twisting, turning, we came screaming down at the right air-speed'

A perfect day for a walk, bright, sunny but cool, Ross and I parked up on the edge of Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District before 9 am and started a walk that took in parts of Snake Pass, Alport Castle and the Upper Derwent and afore-mentioned reservoirs over a 10 mile route today.  The walk took in three valleys with climbs out of each, but spectacular views throughout and a lunchtime spot rarely surpassed in our walks over the last 14 years.

This is the memorial to the members of 617 Squadron of the RAF, the Dambusters, who practised the dropping of the 'bouncing bomb' along this stretch of the reservoirs in 1943.
