Snacking

This is a noisy miner bird which is native to Australia and belongs to the honeyeater family. It is a protected species. The back of its plumage is the extra.

It is not the same as the Indian mynah bird which is usually brown and was brought to Australia in 1860 to control pests in market gardens. The plan was unsuccessful. They are starlings and not protected here. They are very aggressive to other birds and their nests and there are humane culling programs to keep the numbers down.

The term mynah is Hindi meaning starling.

Lawn mowing and hedging day. Sooo noisey but wonderful to have it all done.
