The Reading Room...

... at Weston Colville.

The Reading Room was commissioned by Squire William Henry Hall and his friend Sedley Taylor and was opened in 1885 to help labouring men and boys develop their literacy, hoping it might keep them out of the local pubs. No women were admitted until the Women’s Institute (1925) demanded change.
