Day two

Back blip
We drove to Tongue and up to Talmine. It was beautiful! Superb beaches, bright blue seas and very windy! Chilly too! Luckily, we were provided with a very comprehensive breakfast pack by the pod owners so I cooked a big fry up to start us on our way!  (S always drives and I always cook - it works well)

Lots of photo stops en route, so much to see, views over huge sandy beaches, the abandoned stone built houses, the old wrecked boat on the shore.  Talmine was somewhere one could envisage living!

A little further on was Port Vasgo, a tiny inlet in the rocks, at the base of mountainous cliffs with wonderful rock formations. The most beautiful lichens too. Phoned Mike and he remembered it well!

We came home via Grummore, one of the clearance villages on the Strathnaver road, which is where we are staying. It was a bit of a trek and the weather was deteriorating by the second! The snow on the mountains should had been a warning! Sleet and hail! It was bitter! Poor Lootie starting trying to dig a scrape to shelter in. I felt so bad, having her out in it without a coat. Got home as fast as we could, soaking and frozen, wrapped ourselves up in all our layers and put the heater on! Lottie had her towel, fleecy bed and my quilted body warmer on!

Unfortunately, we had to turn the heater off to use the microwave at tea time, but it went back on straight back on again afterwards! A lovely day, despite the wintry weather!
