Able Jaszoon Tasman

Explorer and Navigator.
1603 - 1659
Between 13th December 1643 through to 6th January 1643 he and his officers charted parts of the western coasts of both north and south islands.
Dying at just 56 he achieved quite a lot including having the sea between NZ and Aussie named after him, an island off Aussie and the top of NZ south island named after him.
The statue is in a car park in Tahuna, Nelson not even in Tasman. LOL
As the car park faces the beach he is popular with the gulls.

A social day today with some friends we have not seen much of lately.

Another glorious autumn day.
