The grave

The wonderful family who took care of Elizabeth for the last four years of her life asked their village if they would accept to have her buried there next to their house so that they could continue caring for her and tending the grave.

It was accepted and the first white foreigner was put deep down into the beautiful sandy ground and laid to rest. A tremendous honour, and the whole village was there to witness the occasion. A feast was prepared, each family providing something and songs were sung late into the night.

It was a memorable moment and surely what Elizabeth would have chosen.
