Aurora in Estonia!

This was not something I expected to see and shoot. This late in the spring the nights are getting too light and it's rare to have a good Aurora show that far south, but at least the nights are a little darker there, which helped, when an exceptional solar storm happened to hit. It was a little too bright at 10 pm, when the show started, but 20 minutes later it was better.

We had just come back from a day trip and were parking in front of my mother-in-law's place, when Triinu noticed that the green was visible even next to street lamps. I drove about a kilometre away from the village and started shooting. Another shot in extra #3 and more on Facebook.

Our day trip destination was Põltsamaa, where our friends live, but on the way there we stopped in Paide, where I haven't been in many years. We walked around in the medieval castle area and town centre. A shot of the castle in the extra #1.

I had not visited Põltsamaa either in a few years, as we have visited the friends in their weekend home a few times. It was nice to see that the castle (extra#2) renovations have progressed a little, but it's still far from restored.
