A happy sandwich filling

This afternoon we had a visit from friends we'd not seen for 40+ years! It was a real joy to see them and catch up beyond all those years of Christmas Card notes! And - yes of course we'd all grown older - but we really hadn't changed other than that. Had a lovely meal at a local hostelry and back home to wind down with a cuppa before they set off home to Warwickshire.

The sandwich filling does not relate to our repast. The filling was the lovely time we spent with our friends. First slice of bread: I woke up with a migraine. No zigzag aura - straight in with the pain. Got up and dressed less that 30 minutes before our visitors arrived, by which time the pain had eased a good deal. (Apparently, I did look a lot better at the end of the meal than at the beginning! Certainly felt it.) Until...

Half an hour or so after they'd left (second side of the sandwich), tiny lights appeared across my vision, rapidly growing to result in today's Migraine #2. (Can't take any of the doctor's prescribed tablets as when I looked them up at home, I found they have contraindications with other tablets. Oh, and one says, Don't take if you're over 65!)

Anyway, paracetamol are still available, so on we go...

The blip is a close up of my lampshade, to try and convey a hint of what a pre-migraine aura looks like. Doesn't come close really, except for the intensity. It doesn't move around, of course, like the real thing. But it's my entry for this week's Abstract Thursday challenge of 'natural abstract' with thanks to host Ingeborg. It may be man-made, but it's natural insofar as I've not messed with it.

I'm just so pleased that we didn't cancel our friends and relied on the timings allowing for recovery. We had such a lovely time.
