Ochre in the Luberon

Provence has several deposits of ochre which was first processed industrially by a French scientist in the 18th C. These cliffs were on the way from Sault to Apt, the centre of the Luberon.
Apt was a Roman settlement standing on the Via Domitia - the first Roman road in France and which linked Italy with Spain. It is also the centre of candied fruit.
We visited the cathedral of St Anne and inside found this unusual artwork by a Senegalese of the Descent of the Crucifixion.  There was also a colourful painting of the Last Supper - what brought that alive for me where the twirly pillars in the background.
The last two photos are of an old doorway and more food!
Not really looking forward to flying back to England tomorrow, would just like to spend a few more days ......
