What struck my fancy

Police in town

I was in town this afternoon and came across this informal piece of police action. I've no idea what it was about and the red shirts were new to me.

The black statue upper left depicts King John who visited the area, travelling with his treasure because no-one could be trusted to supervise it in London. Sadly in October 1216, as he and his entourage crossed the estuary the sea came in and the treasure was lost, no book of tide-tables then.

Detectorists do wander the locality, but to date in vain. Come to think of it the policemen do look cheerful . . . .
