The Lambretta convention at The Queen Vic

Helena suggested a visit to the local cinema to see the first night of a film being streamed by the BFI, prior to the general release. I'd not heard about it but decided to go which was a good idea.

It turns out that the film is based on first novel by local author Rachel Joyce, called 'The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry', and stars Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton, who are both excellent. The film lives up to its name, is very moving and a good example of a successful small scale film, and thankfully not over blown. Some of it was also filmed locally and featured Minchinhampton Common, Stroud High Street and Slad valley. We recommend it.

On the way back to the car, we spotted a Land]bretta parked on the pavement close to our car in Gloucester Street. We then widened our view and saw a collection of at least fifteen other Lambrettas in the yard of The Queen Vic pub across the road. We both knew instantly that we'd be blipping them, so here is my take.

We are looking forward to the annual car and bike convention called 'Wheel Nuts' that is held at Helena's old work place, St Rose's School, on Beeches Green, Stroud on Sunday 30th April in aid of charity. There is usually a fine gathering of vehicles evoking bygone eras. I remember this 1929 Cadillac well.
