Floral delights in the City

We stayed in London last night, after the dinner, which gave us  the opportunity of  exploring before we returned home. Just around the corner  from our hotel we discovered the charming  St Dunstan in the  East Church Garden.St Dunstan in the East Church Garden The  church was designed by Sir Christopher Wren. Sadly, it was very badly damaged during the second  World  War. It wasn't rebuilt, but the  ruins have  been transformed into this quiet oasis, with very attractive planting. In the  foreground is a Ceanothus in full bloom.    
We had hoped to visit the nearby Skygarden, too, but all tickets for today had been taken. However we found some other  attractive, although very different, gardens on the Victoria Embankment near Embankment station, See blip extras for the stunning  formal displays.  

We  then visited the National  Gallery to see the excellent "After Impressionism: Inventing Modern Art" exhibition, After Impressionism before heading for  Waterloo station and the train home.
