Fish Ladder

I walked to Wetherby this morning - as I needed a few bits from town…including new laces for my walking boots which have just about worn through - I have obviously been working them too hard recently :-)

While I was there, I wandered down to the weir area and photographed the fish ladder - put in place to allow fish (including salmon) to bypass the weir to swim further upstream to spawning grounds on the Wharfe. A couple of years ago local media had some photos of a salmon making attempts to leap over the weir (which is at least two metres high), despite the availability of the ladder.
