Dawn chorus

We were up rather early this morning to get to the Arboretum by 5:00 for a guided dawn chorus walk. It was led by a very interesting and informative chap from the RSPB who was able to help us identify all the bird songs. We heard song thrush, chiffchaff, blackcap, redstart, goldcrest, nuthatch, willow and sedge warblers as well as the usual blackbird, robin, wren, tits and finches. Two kestrels also put on a fabulous flying display. I just hope I will be able to remember and recognise some of the songs again! It was a super two hour walk in the early morning sunshine finishing back at the arb cafe for coffee and bacon butties. We were back home by 9:00 and now I'm flagging
