Ullswater

First day of canoeing and climbing weekend in the lakes. Just me and toby. Stayed at our friends cottage in matterdale end. 

A bit wet to start, so got some steaks from booths and found Max's statue in hope park. Then headed out on Ullswater in beautiful conditions. So little wind, was like paddling on silk. Rain has eased off and not a problem. 

Explored the islands but didn't land as there were nesting geese. Met a bunch of sea kayakers in silver bay and had a long conversation about the Neris. I think the guy was ready to order one as soon as he got home. 

Weather cleared and attempted to get some climbing in in the evening but was still too damp on the rock. Had some great views though. 

Finished the day with steak and monopoly. Happy boy and happy dad!
