To the Northeast……

Maisie and I walked a little later today. The sky and its clouds were very unusual this morning. A friend in Rangiora, near Christchurch, posted an image of a Solar Corona this afternoon. There were very high clouds and superimposed upon them was a huge pale silver circle around the sun. A photographer/ meteorologist friend confirmed the name of the phenomenon. Apparently it portends near rain. I feel for the upper North Island where heavy rains and strong winds are taking hold. Terrible for the affected areas. They suffered hugely during recent Cyclone Gabrielle. They do not need this next lot of dreadful weather.
