Starling

We never see starlings in the garden in the winter but usually a few appear in the spring. They used to nest in a nearby chimney but most folk have put caps on to stop the crows nesting in the chimneys so I have no idea where the pair we have are nesting. They come every day and mostly peck the lawn for grubs but this one has discovered how to hang on to get the food from the feeder. Starlings are such beautiful birds with a multitude of colour.
When I was young and we were hurrying for a train back to Wemyss bay from Glasgow, the starlings used to arrive in their hundreds , landing on ledges on the buildings. What a noise they made every night! I still remember the train was 5.13 pm . I wonder if it is still the same?
