El Galeon

We walked to Brixham today for the pirate festival. Amazed that there were so many people, and nearly all of them dressed as pirates. We were at a fancy dress party but had forgotten to make an effort. The ship in the photo is the El Galeón Andalucía, a replica of a 16th-17th century galleon ship designed for establishing trade routes between Spain, America and the Philippine Islands. You could go on board.
The annual Brixham Pirate Festival is a swashbuckling mix of seaside shenanigans and pirate-themed fun, served with beer. (Extra) On the old fish quay there was live music and a huge crowd attired in character. It is opposite the Rising Sun, and for a few surreal moments everyone was lustily singing along to - The House  of the Rising Sun.
