End of an era

I previously blipped this oak tree which has been a feature of our village for a long time. It is reported to be around 500 years old and a footpath goes underneath it regularly used by dog walkers.

On Thursday it blew down in a gust of wind. Fortunately no-one was on the path at the time and no damage was done.

However, it has great sentimental value. Most of the children in the village used to climb it and this is my son standing in the hole where the roots used to be.
