Traditional

This is possibly my favourite restaurant. It is in the fishing village of Auchmithie, which is just a few miles from Arbroath in Angus. The traditional food served here includes Arbroath smokies which are haddock smoked using a process developed here in Auchmithie before being moved to the nearby town. The restaurant is in a pair of the traditional fishermen's cottages which are common in the village. The name "But'n Ben" refers to a traditional type of two-roomed Scottish country cottage in which the Ben room was for the people to live in, and the other one, the But, was for the animals. The restaurant is not like that however! Thanks to ApolloFly for hosting.
