Humble pie

The neighbour knocked on the door and handed me a warm homemade apple and blackcurrant pie wrapped in a tea towel. She said 'I though it was about time I introduced myself propery' I said 'how lovely', took the pie closed the door and promptly ate a slice. Realised as I put the fork down that I really should have invited her in for a coffee. Am now too embarassed by my actions to do anything...... must send Lee round with some runner beans from the garden when he gets back in from work.
Once again i blame my social inadequacies on my upbringing
