St James Church Sydney

St James Church is heritage listed and the oldest building still standing in inner city Sydney. It was commissioned by Governor Macquarie in 1819 and designed in the Georgian style by transported convict architect Francis Greenway.

This is the place to which I wanted to wander after a long lunch out with a dear friend with whom I taught in my short teaching career. This church is a thing of beauty. I had a go at photographing the far grander St Mary's Cathedral nearby but St James trumped it no problems.

Thanks for hosting Bob.
