Hampden Bridge

A visit to Nowra today for the annual financial news from the accountant. On the way north out of town, I gave isbi 10 seconds notice for the query “Princes Motorway or the scenic route?”. The reply was garbled and too slow anyway so I made a unilateral decision, turned left and headed up (and down) the mountain into Kangaroo Valley.
The valley is well known for its lush green vegetation and spectacular views but more importantly (for me), the historic Hampden suspension bridge, 77m long and completed in 1898.
They timed the construction perfectly as less than a week after the official opening, the old timber structure was washed away in a flood!
I've tagged it for Wide Wednesday but to call the beautiful old bridge a religious experience is a bit of a stretch!
