An Exciting Day

I’m standing for re-election as an Otley town councillor. My fingers are crossed.

Yesterday one of the young hairdressers in Otley told me she didn’t intend to vote, and never does. I said that people died for us all to have the vote, but she just shrugged and said she doesn’t understand it and wouldn’t know whom to vote for. I suggested she read the election leaflets and asked what she cares about; she said nothing, really. I found this profoundly depressing.
