If you can't beat them...

Whitebeam ( Sorbus aria )

A blip I tend to do every year, I may have been just in time taking it today.  I really like the soft grey pubescent nature of the fresh new leaves.   A shower of rain very quickly removes the effect of the little hairs and so the soft light grey colour.  While the berries aren't showy like Rowan (a close relative) the birds do enjoy them.  Not a plant I would have chosen, it was here when we came, but a plant I thoroughly enjoy.

With guests arriving today ( in case they want to enjoy tomorrow's celebration) we nipped out to the Lodge and removed all tools and equipment from our three weeks of maintenance.  Jobs finished a day early so we told the guests they could come early.
