Dandelion Weekend Day 3

Our day started in Sudborough Green Lodge Meadows, a species-rich ridge-and-furrow hay meadow which again turned up an impressive range of species including Bertha's Dandelion Taraxacum berthae, which had  previously only be recorded from the north and west of Britain.

Here, John Richards is holding the dandelion named after him, Richards Dandelion T. richardsianum, an endemic species of humid meadows. Other botanical highlights included the first Green-winged Orchid of the year and several magnificent flowering Wild Pear.

In the afternoon we headed to Castor Hanglands NNR, which yielded  excitement including the rare Large-flowered Dandelion T. macranthoides and good stands of Small-flowered Buttercup.
