Bumblebee rescue operation

I discovered this bumblebee in the conservatory. It must have been there for at least 18 hours if not more and was not very mobile.

Here it is feeding on local Hampshire honey. Once refreshed, it was encouraged to go outdoors.

I was so impressed to see the tongue emerging from the proboscis to lap up the honey.

If it is a buff tailed bumblebee, Bombus terrestris, as I suspect, then the Internet tells me the average length of the tongue is 5.8 mm. while foraging.
