Flutterby

Such majesty amongst these creatures! I know them, rather romantically, as Flutterbies.

I marvel at the metamorphosis from just a creepy caterpillar to something of such beauty, colour, serenity and almost an innocence that is rare in the animal kingdom.

This picture was taken at a Butterfly farm not far from home. There were so many fabulous examples but this pic sticks out for me...the proboscis is primed for feeding and the contrast of the Flutterby with the stunning purple flowers makes this one stand out!
