Ships Of The Desert

We visited the abandoned village of Al Nakhl today -- about an hour's drive from the port of Yanbu Ras Al Abyadh in Saudi Arabia.  Lack of rainfall over time has forced the local population to abandon this place, but the old stone buildings and ancient streets are very interesting to see.

An extra added bonus was the sudden appearance of a camel train -- so beautifully decked out in colourful saddles and bridles, looking like a scene from Lawrence of Arabia.

Our last call in Saudi -- we are now heading for Sharm El Sheik, Egypt.
