In April 1940, Norwegian pilot Stein Gustavvson Abidso made it to Stonehaven in his seaplane. 

There'd have been no escape for anyone falling into the sea at Catterline this afternoon. 

I wonder if the soundscape was part of what Joan Eardley was trying to capture in her paintings
