Pilgrimage

Met friends D and G, lunch in Kirk Deighton and then up the A1 into County Durham to seek out the Anglo Saxon church at Escomb near Bishop Auckland. Absolutely terrific it post dates the building of the first church at York Minster by only about 20 years. Amazing that it has survived intact and that worship went on uninterrupted for so many hundreds of years.
And it’s such a boon taking our own personal historians with us.
