My topsy-turvy life

By Rathmandu

Brave little soldier

Owen came in to bed with us over night and seemed to be running a bit of a temperature and coughing again. He wasn't himself through the morning but perked up again in the afternoon and helped me in the garden. But then he started to flag a little and temperature went back up again. A dose of Calpol didn't do much and, when Louisa got home from a baby shower, we called NHS111.

A call to 111 to give loads of details, then told to wait for a call back but, if we hadn't heard anything in the next 30 minutes, to call 999. No call back in an hour so we called and got an ambulance to come round. The Paramedics were great but decided to take him into A&E to get checked out properly. So, it was a trip in the ambulance (with a dose of sambutarol for the congestion) with me following. Several hours in A&E to be discharged with a prescription for antibiotics. All of that because there's no GP available on a Sunday. There's something wrong with that system.

Thankfully they were happy to discharge and we were on our way home around midnight...at least we didn't have all of this yesterday.
