Every Monday

My mother made Shepherds Pie every Monday (it was also washing day - not here today) but, as we invariably had beef for Sunday dinner, technically we had Cottage Pie. Anyway, I remember it as being very good, with a crispy mashed potato top.

Now Gordon makes Cottage Pie if we have had beef at the weekend, but he uses Mary Berry’s recipe for ‘Cottage Pie with Dauphinois Potato topping‘. Indulgent but utterly delicious.

And, just to show that I am sometimes allowed to do a little more in the kitchen than all the washing up, this is my carrot and courgette medley - half a carrot, half a courgette grated in the processor (see extra) ready to be stir fried in a little olive oil for a couple of minutes.
