Vinyl Plank FTW!!

Had to say that I had my grave doubts about this product, however, everyone (especially the shop selling it) had absolutely rave reviews, not only on it's finish but on laying it was well.

And my investor liked it......

So we bought 576sqft and started laying it.

OMG - the most overused TLA in the English language - but for once, well deserved in it's use. Absolutely brilliant product, both in the finish and laying.

The floor require nearly no prepping other than being swept and no horrible bumps from mud or anything, cutting requires my a simple Stanley knife, and that's about it.

The only thing slowing you down laying this stuff is handling it from the box to the floor. You can lay as fast as someone can hand it to you - it's that simple.

And these aren't vinyl tiles or anything. They are 4mm thick, heavy duty tiles with a reinforced surface for hard wearing. Not the cheapest things either, but - blimey - just the laying of them makes the extra cost worthwhile.

They lay in rectangular lengths, with overlapping edges that are glued. Simply lay one piece up to the next, ensure a tight fit, press down to activate glue, and job done. They don't need a sub layer as they are waterproof and they'll go over modest bumps fairly easily.

Brilliant brilliant stuff.

The floor above 16*20 feet took about 90 minutes to lay. And the finish - brilliant. Looks and feels the exact same as high quality laminates.

We did a similar sized floor just over a year ago with normal laminate. It took a day and a half.
