Where Christmas trees go to die

I'm not completely sure when this started happening. The City of Ottawa, for all its faults, operates an excellent composting and green waste pick up service - every week without fail. Yet in a busy side streetm next to a park and a school a Christmas Tree Graveyard has started to appear. I'm also impressed that people have kept them this long and then managed to bring them to this location. What can be behind it? Or, rather, who can be behind it? Is it an Elon Musk-driven scheme to build a pile big enough to launch his next satellite? Or maybe these are the benefits of Brexit the Tories have been banging on about (in a vacuum) for so long. But this isn't England... It is, as Toyah Wilcox would say, a mystery. I wonder if there is a connection with all those massive logs that have been appearing everywhere?
