Between fen and mountains

15 minutes of fame

I managed to get hold of a copy of yesterday’s paper. A journalist came to the church on Sunday and stayed right through the service. He had not intended to stay very long, but found the bells and the general ambience very engaging so stayed right through the service and wrote an excellent article that took up all of page three of the regional paper.
The tennis lesson resumed after the school holidays and we just about managed to fit it in before the rain came. There were six of us at French conversation and we had a good exchange about the village during the Second World War. I have some anecdotal written accounts as has one other member of our group about the protection of Jewish children, and passing Allied pilots across the Spanish border undertaken by local people. We agreed that all this information needs to be collected while there are still people alive who can describe their stories. Daniel, our Francophone, who is a keen writer, and the village reporter for the paper, has undertaken to gather more information and write it up.
