Choo choo!

Steam train day on the West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in England. It was always a little expensive for us all to go on as a family when I came here as a child, so it's a real treat for me now (thanks Norm xx).

Got the first train of the day to Minehead - just had time to take some geeky train photos, have a quick mooch and a coffee before getting the next train back all the way to Bishops Lydeard (we call it Bishop's Leotard ;-))

Had 50 minutes to wait for the train back to Watchet so I had a look in the railway museum on the platform there, it was an interesting little place and they had an old sleeper train that you could wander through (extra of a stern lady I met on there hehe). The heavens properly opened on the way back, thunder and lightning too. It suddenly became a perfect setting for an Agatha Christie novel!

I'd progressively felt rougher and rougher as the day went on so went to bed for a couple of hours when we got back. Finished watching Magpie Murders, loved it and was really happy to read that they're making a second series later in the year. If you like quite gentle whodunnits and stories within stories (which I thought was cleverly done) I think you'll enjoy it. Lesley Manville was great too.

Added extras of the steam train at Bishop's Leotard (just before the flash storm arrived) and an upside down reflection (with well-positioned seagull) of the clock in Minehead. Made a little steam train reel here, if you like Doris Day make sure you have the volume on!
