Do You Hear Me Now?

We toured the Pittock Mansion this afternoon. Henry Pittock was the owner of the Oregonian newspaper and involved in many aspects of Portland life in the late 1800's. Completed on 1914, the Pittock Mansion featured progressive inventions such as a central vacuum system, intercoms, an elevator and indirect lighting. The picture is of one of the intercoms. It reminds me of the ones in the TV show, Downton Abby, and you can imagine the Pittock's calling the servants to bring their tea to the library.
